The HCV and the RCV series cutters have been especially designed for sub-sea ROV use. They feature hydraulically powered anvil pins for remote actuation. This enables the ROV operator to capture and sever the cable or wire rope via the manipulator arm. Once the rope has been captured by the closing of the anvil pin, a hardened steel guillotine blade is hydraulically driven through the rope. The blade is then hydraulically returned and the anvil pin retracted for the next cut.
Every effort has been made, including the use of special alloys, to reduce weight in these designs and they are corrosion protected throughout.
The HCV 100 and 120 are designed for cutting armored telecom and power cables while the RCV 75 and RCV 115 are suited for cutting steel ropes.
The WC 75HDZ is an adaptation of the WC 75 with a hydraulic pin retraction cylinder projecting 13 inches out of the body side.
